Ikummatiit is the Government of Nunavut’s overall energy strategy involving all Departments and Agencies. Ikummatiit seeks to establish a sustainable energy system that is secure, environmentally responsible, and optimizes economic benefits for Nunavummiut, both today and tomorrow. A number of policy action items were developed, focusing on energy efficiency and conservation and the adoption of domestic renewable energy. This will reduce imported oil.
